The Reserve
Barely talked about in tourist circles, nestled on the slopes of the Satpura Range of Hills in Central India, lies a rich expanse of a virtually un-scaled ecosystem called the Satpura National Park. The Park along with adjoining Bori and Panchmari Sanctuaries covers an area over 1500 sq kilometers of unparalleled bio-diversity. This thick, dry-deciduous forest is characterized by hilly backdrops, gorgeous water bodies and a rather stunning blend of dramatic landscapes.
Its ageless teak trees, pockets of bamboo, deep gorges and ravines are all the makings of a terrain where the tiger still reigns supreme. And, where there are tigers there is game! Apart from the ‘big’ mammals in India that include Tiger, Leopards, Sloth Bear, Wild Dog, Gaur (Indian Bison) and a variety of deer and antelope, the Satpura National Park is home to some unique species of Indian mammals like the flying squirrel, porcupine and hyena.
Reni Pani Jungle Lodge, a fine example of a modern-day conservation camp, takes its interesting name from a neighboring tribal village. The landscape in and around the camp has the potential to leave the most widely travelled individuals awestruck.Reni Pani Jungle Lodge is frequented by hordes of wildlife and its true forest-like feel may not be ideal for the faint hearted. The terrain around the lodge is characterized by rugged hills, stretches of meadowsand numerous nallahs (natural waterways) along with seasonal agriculturalland making it an ideal hot-spot for a host of wildlife including Sambhar,Cheetal, Chinkaras, Nilgai, Wild Boar and the occasional Leopard and Sloth Bear.
The lodge is spread over 30 acres of striking forest cover typical of the Satpura National Park. The camp-site encompasses exactly what a nature lover would want; magnificent trees, a sprawling meadow, a seasonal nallah, uneven yet beautiful topography and water holes that attract several species of animals and birds. While the camp itself is inspired by classic wildlife camp architecture, the materials used are completely indigenous to the area, thereby providing patrons with a unique and lasting insight into local lifestyle.
There are 12 independent units in this lodge offering three distinct structural designs (Nallah facing units, forest units, hill-top units).
Each room has a large private deck so that guests can enjoy the camp’s natural surroundings while lounging in a comfortable environment. The common facilities of the lodge comprise a lounge, a bar, a dining room and a library all embedded in different parts of single structure called the ‘gol ghar’.
The camp also features a fascinating swimming pool located along a curve in the nallah, offering a sensational blend of luxury in the midst of ultimate wilderness.
